Description
Hypericum Hirsutum is a flowering plant in the genus Hypericum, commonly known as hairy St John's-wort. Similar to the Marsh St John's Wort, although, as its name suggests, this is only found in bogs or marshland. It has an erect stem with black dots along the margin of its sepals. It flowers from July to August with seed shed from September onwards, normally dying back in the Winter.
Habitat
It is a native perennial found in the UK and Western Europe along margins and in waste ground. It prefers neutral or poor soils.
Sowing
It thrives best when sown onto bare soil as the seeds are very small and would need soil disturbance to persist.
